Camp Cold Brook is a summer day camp open to children with physical and cognitive challenges, as well as able-bodied children. Siblings and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. Camp Cold Brook is geared towards the beginner rider and is an excellent introduction to horses and riding in a safe and secure environment. All instructors are Path certified, are trained in CPR and First Aid and have a strong horsemanship background. All instructors are assisted by trained volunteers to ensure the safety of the riders. The horses used at Camp Cold Brook are known for their quiet and calm dispositions. Children five years old and older can attend. Any child attending must have independent bathroom skills and be able to care for and feed him/herself or have an aide in attendance for assistance. Any aide or parent that would like to attend camp with a child must attend the Mane Stream Volunteer orientation and training. Please note that Mane Stream is not able to administer medications. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9AM to 2PM.
Dress
All campers are required to wear long pants appropriate for riding. Footwear should be hard-soled boots with a heel. Boots with a large tread are not acceptable for riding. All riders are required to wear ASTM-SEI approved riding helmets dated within 5 years. Helmets, as well as riding boots, are available at Mane Stream for camper’s use. Comfortable clothes may be brought and changed into after riding.
Lunch
All campers must bring their own lunch and beverages. Cold water will be available for drinking. Please be aware that snacks and treats are sometimes offered and shared among the campers so be sure to let us know if your child has diet restrictions.
